Pakistan, EU hold talks on sustainability, circular economy

May 02, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and the European Union engaged in discussions to enhance collaboration on circular economy and environmental sustainability during a meeting held in Geneva between Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik and Ciobanu Dordea, Director for Circular Economy at the European Commission.

During the meeting, Dr. Musadik Malik highlighted the mutually advantageous nature of Pakistan’s economic ties with the European Union and underscored the importance of incorporating the perspectives of developing nations in global environmental policy discussions.

He further pointed to significant opportunities for establishing green industrial clusters in Pakistan and extended an invitation to European companies to join this transformative effort, according to the press release.

Ciobanu Dordea, in his remarks, acknowledged Pakistan’s commitment to sustainability and identified key areas for strengthened cooperation, including environment, waste management, and circular economy efforts.

Both parties also explored ways to deepen economic engagement between Pakistan and the private sectors of EU member countries.
