Pakistan, Belarus commit to closer bilateral relations

June 04, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Belarus are committed to strengthening their economic and bilateral relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in agriculture, information technology, and defense sectors.

This was highlighted during a meeting in Islamabad between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian Defence Minister Lt. General Victor Khrenin.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s interest in benefiting from Belarus’s expertise in agricultural machinery manufacturing. He also expressed the intention to enhance collaboration in IT and defense fields.

The Prime Minister updated the Belarusian delegation on Pakistan’s stance concerning recent tensions in South Asia, specifically referring to the Pahalgam incident.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan had offered impartial investigations into the incident; however, instead of a positive response, India resorted to aggression by attacking Pakistan and targeting civilians, leading to the martyrdom of innocent people.

He affirmed that Pakistan responded strongly in self-defense against this aggression, according to the press release issued today.

Belarusian Defence Minister Victor Khrenin conveyed his country’s desire for peace and stability in South Asia.

He also mentioned that his visit aims to advance progress on memorandums of understanding and agreements between Pakistan and Belarus.
