Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to boost energy ties

May 22, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Azerbaijan reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the energy sector.
This came during a meeting between Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, H.E. Khazar Farhadov, held at the Ministry of Petroleum.
The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment, as per the press release issued today.
Minister Malik expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s unwavering support to Pakistan during its recent conflict with India, emphasizing the deep-rooted and brotherly ties between the two nations.
He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highly values Azerbaijan's solidarity and thanked the brotherly countries for their support during challenging times.
Ambassador Farhadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s dedication to expanding economic and energy collaboration with Pakistan.
He highlighted the mutual vision of both countries for regional energy connectivity and emphasized Azerbaijan’s high regard for its relationship with Pakistan.
He noted that the goal is to further strengthen the historic brotherhood through increased economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector.
Minister Malik also shared that he will be representing Pakistan at the upcoming Baku Energy Week, where he aims to promote sustainable energy partnerships by engaging with global energy leaders.
He added that Azerbaijan’s state-owned company, SOCAR Upstream, is currently in discussions with Pakistani entities regarding potential collaboration in energy exploration an initiative that could pave the way for mutual growth.
Both sides agreed to expedite dialogue on joint ventures, expressing confidence in the future of their strategic partnership and its potential to enhance regional energy security.
