Pakistan, Azerbaijan expected to sign MoUs during PM Shehbaz’s visit

February 24, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Azerbaijan are poised to strengthen their bilateral ties, with several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements expected to be signed as Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Baku for a two-day official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the visit, he will hold high-level meetings with the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev, and other senior officials.
The discussions will focus on deepening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment, enhancing cooperation in the energy sector, tackling climate change, strengthening defense collaboration, and fostering cultural exchanges.
As part of his engagements, the Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani leadership will address the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum, scheduled for Monday.
The forum aims to bring together business leaders from both countries to explore avenues for joint ventures, trade expansion, and investment opportunities, with a strong emphasis on business-to-business (B2B) collaboration.
Upon arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, he was warmly received by senior Azerbaijani officials, including First Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Yaqub Abdulla oglu Eyyubov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Yalchin Rafiyev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Khazar Farkhadov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Qasim Mohiuddin, and other dignitaries.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan share a long-standing bond of brotherhood, rooted in shared values and mutual aspirations, as per the press release issued today.
This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to enhancing economic cooperation and fostering regional collaboration.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level ministerial delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, and Minister for Investment & Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan.
Also part of the delegation are Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi.
With significant agreements on the horizon, this visit is expected to mark a new chapter in Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations, paving the way for stronger diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation between the two nations.
