Pakistan, Azerbaijan discuss trade expansion, investment opportunities

February 24, 2025 (MLN): The establishment of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Chamber of Commerce in Islamabad was a key focus, with plans for Exhibition Centers aimed at promoting trade between the two nations.
Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, highlighted these developments during discussions in Baku.
He also addressed investment opportunities in Pakistan’s communications sector, particularly in motorway construction in Sindh and Karachi, to enhance connectivity with Central Asian countries.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan held high-level discussions on bilateral investment and business activities as Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan met with Israfel Mammadov, CEO of the State Oil Fund, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, both sides explored ways to enhance economic cooperation.
After completing a three-day visit to Morocco, the Federal Minister arrived in Baku and emphasized that Azerbaijan holds a special place in the hearts of the Pakistani people, with relations progressing towards greater strength.
The efforts of Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, in strengthening ties were acknowledged.
Discussions with Azerbaijan’s State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) marked a new phase in economic cooperation, according to the press release issued today.
The President of SOCAR, Rovshanf Najaf, and CEO of SOFAZ, Israfil Mammadov, assured their full support.
The delegation included the Chairman of the State Investment Fund Corporation (SIFC), Federal Secretaries, and the Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA).
These engagements come ahead of the anticipated visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister to Azerbaijan, which is seen as a key milestone in strengthening ties between the two nations.
