Pakistan, Australia focus on strengthening bilateral trade

February 18, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Australia are focused on further strengthening their bilateral trade and economic relations, as a delegation from the Pakistan-Australia Business Council (PABC) met with Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan.

The minister highlighted the steady growth in Pakistan’s exports to Australia and the increasing flow of remittances from the Pakistani community there.

During the meeting, Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the strong goodwill between the two nations and called for more high-level engagements to enhance bilateral ties.

He recognized the significant contributions of the Pakistani diaspora in Australia to the country's economy and society, according to the press release.

The minister also acknowledged PABC’s efforts in promoting business linkages and facilitating trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

He pointed out that, while trade between Pakistan and Australia continues to grow, there remains considerable untapped potential, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and education.

Noting that many Pakistani students are already benefiting from Australia’s higher education institutions, the minister expressed hope for deeper collaboration in these key sectors.

He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering closer ties with Australia, citing cricket as a shared passion that continues to unite the two nations.
