January 8, 2019 (MLN): The government of Pakistan has issued an official notification to freeze the import of furnace oil, informed a spokesperson of the Petroleum Division.

Moreover, the authorities have asked refineries to improve the output and quality of petroleum products, and to minimize production of furnace oil.

As per the notification, refineries should sign agreements with power companies to store furnace oil and to enhance the storage capacity. “All refineries should use earnings from deemed duty,” adds the speaker for Petroleum Division.

However, it has been announced that the furnace oil import ban would not be applicable on K-electric.
