January 20, 2022 (MLN): National Accounts Committee (NAC) approved the revised estimate of GDP growth for 2020-21 which was 5.37% when compared to the base year 2005-6. This is the second-highest growth in the last 14 years, Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Planning Development, Reforms, and Special Initiatives said on Twitter.

Higher growth versus provisional estimates which were based on July-Mar numbers was mainly due to very strong industrial growth in April-June, he added.

To note, the provisional growth of GDP for the year 2020-21 had been estimated at 3.94% which was based upon growth estimates of the agricultural, industrial, and services sectors at 2.77%, 3.57%, and 4.43%, respectively.
