November 10, 2020 (MLN): After persistent follow-ups and negotiations with local refineries and the Government, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has now reached an Agreement with Attock Refinery Limited for disposal of crude oil discovered by Ziarat Joint Venture in September 2018 at an exploratory well Bolan East-1 in Ziarat Block, located in the Kachhi district of Balochistan.
To recall, the well was successfully drilled down to the depth of 1,500 meters and the hydrocarbon potential of Dunghan, Moro/Mughal Kot and Chiltan Formations was tested through Drill Stem Tests. After testing, the well was completed in Chiltan formation.
However, the production from the well could not commence due to the non-acceptance of the crude by local refineries because of its low API gravity.
According to the notification to PSX, after making necessary arrangements, Extended Well Testing (EWT) production commenced from November 9, 2020. Currently, the well is producing approximately 800 BPD of crude oil at 28/64” choke size with Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 165 Psi. MPCL is the Operator of Ziarat Exploration License with 60% working interest, while PPL Europe E&P Limited is the joint venture partner with 40% working interest.
It is pertinent to highlight that Bolan East-1 is the first-ever crude oil discovery in Chiltan and Moro/Mughal Kot formations in Baluchistan Province.
