March inflation slows to 0.7%

April 03, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan's inflation slowed to 0.7% in March 2025- hitting 59-year low, compared to 1.5% in the previous month and 20.68% in March 2024, the latest data issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showed.

On a sequential basis, inflation increased by 0.9% compared to the previous month's decrease of 0.8%.

Accordingly, the average yearly inflation for 9MFY25 is 5.25% compared to 27.21% in the same period last year. 

Urban CPI inflation eased to 1.2% YoY in March 2025, down from 1.8% in the previous month and significantly lower than 21.9% in March 2024.

On a MoM basis, it saw an increase of 0.8% compared to a 0.7% decline last month and a 1.4% rise in March 2024.

Rural CPI inflation, on the other hand, remained unchanged at 1.1% YoY in March 2025, compared to 1.1% in the previous month and 19.0% in March 2024. MoM, it rose by 1.1%, reversing the previous month’s 1.1% decline, and compared to a 2.1% increase in March 2024.

SPI inflation decreased to -2.3% YoY in March 2025, compared to -0.2% a month earlier and 25.9% in March 2024. On a MoM basis, it dropped by 0.1% in March 2025, compared to a 1.6% decrease last month and a 2.1% increase in March 2024.

WPI inflation decreased by 1.6% YoY in March 2025, compared to a 0.7% decline the previous month and a 14.8% increase in March 2024.

On a MoM basis, it rose by 0.3% in March 2025, reversing the 0.2% drop in the prior month and a 1.3% increase in March 2024.
