LSMI soars by 20.8 percent in January, MoM

March 14, 2019 (MLN): The output of Large Scale Manufacturing Industries (LSMI) during the month of January has increased by 20.82% as compared to December 2018, whereas it has decreased by 4.64% as compared to January, 2018

According to the month-wise trend of Quantum Index Numbers for the last two years, the current indices have marked a peak for the last 10 months.

The over-all output of LSMI decreased by 2.30% for July-January, 2018-19, as compared to the corresponding period of last year, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics released on Thursday.

The production in Jul-Jan 2018-19 as compared to Jul-Jan 2017-18 significantly decreased in Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Coke & Petroleum Products, Pharmaceuticals, Non Metallic Mineral Products, Automobiles and Iron & Steel Products while it has increased in Fertilizers and Electronics.

The provisional quantum indices of LSMI for January, 2019 with base year 2005-06, have been developed on the basis of latest data supplied by the source agencies, the report added.
