May 27, 2025 (MLN): In a major diplomatic development, Kuwait has officially ended a 19-year visa ban on Pakistani nationals.

The announcement was made by Mustafa Malik, Focal Person to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, marking a renewed chapter in Pakistan-Kuwait relations.

The resumption covers multiple visa categories, including employment, family visit, dependent, tourist, and commercial visas, as per the press release.

According to Malik, this move is expected to generate substantial employment and business prospects for Pakistani citizens in Kuwait.

He also noted that applications will now be processed online, reflecting growing global interest in skilled Pakistani labor.

Further expanding opportunities abroad, Malik also disclosed that Italy will soon set an annual quota for Pakistani workers following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

Additionally, demand for skilled Pakistani professionals is reportedly increasing across Arab nations.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, revealed plans to send 1,200 Pakistani nurses to support Kuwait’s healthcare sector.

Although an initial batch of 125 nurses was scheduled to arrive last week, their deployment was delayed due to accommodation challenges.

Dr. Iqbal confirmed that the matter is being addressed and the nurses are now expected to arrive in Kuwait within days.

Dr. Iqbal welcomed the decision to reopen visa services and confirmed that the full range of visas for Pakistanis is once again being issued as of May.
