KSE-100 soars past 112,000 in early trade

December 12, 2024 (MLN): Extending its bullish momentum, the benchmark KSE-100 Index kicked off today's trading session on a positive note, rising by 1,381.97 points or 1.25% to trade at 112,192.18 as of 9:58 AM.

Yesterday, the index closed at a record high of 110,810.21, showing a surge of 1,913.56 points or 1.76%.

Top gainers were MEHT (+9.59%), PIBTL (+8.06%), POML (+6.17%), SNGP (+6.04%), and SHEL (+5.35%).

On the other hand, top losers were HGFA (-3.11%), EFUG (-2.64%), HMB (-1.82%), APL (-0.74%), and PAKT (-0.59%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MARI (+144.55pts), OGDC (+110.30pts), PPL (+98.94pts), FFC (+80.81pts), and LUCK (+75.06pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were HMB (-23.73pts), UBL (-6.48pts), APL (-3.16pts), PAKT (-3.06pts), and KOHC (-2.60pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+420.64pts), Fertilizer (+155.53pts), Commercial Banks (+136.47pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+133.31pts), and Cement (+103.08pts).

While the index was let down by Tobacco (-3.06pts), Close - End Mutual Fund (-2.57pts), Modarabas (+0.00pts), Sugar & Allied Industries (+0.00pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (+0.00pts).

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 33,747 points or 43.02% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 49,741 points or 79.65% so far this calendar year.
