September 16, 2024 (MLN): Aiming to export IT services and boost dollarized revenues, Pakistan’s top digital operator Jazz is expanding its software, analytics, and data center capabilities, positioning itself as a key player in Pakistan’s digital landscape.

Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim has said that Jazz is playing a central role in advancing Pakistan’s digital and financial inclusion.

Speaking at a high-level discussion held in Washington, D.C., Aamir Ibrahim participated as part of a distinguished delegation from VEON, led by Founder and Chairman Augie K. Fabela II, alongside Board Member and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and Group Director of Corporate Affairs Marine Babayan, APP reported.

Aamir shared Jazz’s evolving ServiceCo model, underscoring its shift from a traditional mobile operator to a multifaceted digital leader, said a news release received here.

As part of this transformation, Jazz is expanding its software, analytics, and data center capabilities, positioning itself as a key player in Pakistan’s digital landscape.

The company aims to export IT services and generate dollarized revenues, contributing to foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and economic growth in Pakistan.

“We are evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers, leveraging specialized expertise to boost agility and foster growth in key areas,” Aamir said during the talks.

A major focus of the discussions was on Jazz’s fintech and digital platforms, which play an integral role in the country’s digital economy.

Aamir highlighted JazzCash, Pakistan’s largest financial services platform, as well as Tamasha, Jazz’s entertainment streaming service, Garaj, its cloud computing platform, and SIMOSA, the company’s self-care app.

JazzCash, with 44 million users—30% of whom are women—reported a Gross Transaction Value of Rs7.4 trillion in Q2 2024.

Tamasha, boasting 18 million monthly active users, provides a wide range of content, including live TV, exclusive shows, and live sports.

Garaj supports 98 of the top 100 companies listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, reinforcing the country’s data sovereignty objectives.

Meanwhile, SIMOSA, formerly known as JazzWorld, has over 18m active users, ranking as the leading lifestyle app on Google Play.

The VEON delegation’s meetings also reviewed the group’s global and local initiatives to enhance digital infrastructure, highlighting how these developments are pivotal to fostering economic growth.

The discussions reaffirmed VEON’s commitment to investing in connectivity and digital services to drive transformation and economic development.
