IMF’s funding of $1.4 billion, ordinance for construction sector to be approved today

April 16, 2020 (MLN): Today, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will approve $1.4 billion for Pakistan over a single year to meet urgent Balance of Payment needs through Rapid Financing Instrument to confront the COVID-19 shock.

Advisor on Finance to PM, Dr. Hafeez Shaikh said to media that this emergency funding will help the government to help combat COVID-19 and to address support policies that would help daily wage earners, lower-income groups and the healthcare system.

Further, he said the government has prepared the ordinance for the construction sector and this package will likely be approved by President of Pakistan today.
