Govt undertakes SOEs, FBR reforms to enhance economic efficiency: Finance Minister

December 12, 2023 (MLN): The government has undertaken key reforms, including State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), privatization, and restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to make it more efficient in documenting and digitizing the economy, Finance Minister Shamshad Akhtar emphasized, as a press release issued yesterday.

During a briefing with Ms. Elizabeth Horst, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Affairs in the United States, Minister Akhtar elaborated on the policies and economic reform agenda aimed at achieving economic and fiscal stability in the country.

The Finance Minister said that Pakistan and the US enjoy a long-term, broad-based, and multi-dimensional relationship.

Ms. Elizabeth Horst extended full support of the US Government and its people to the Government of Pakistan.

She further underscored that both countries enjoy good relations and extended her support to further promote bilateral economic relations.
