Govt sets Rs791 per MMBTU levy for captive power plants

March 12, 2025 (MLN): The levy rate has been set at Rs791 per Million British Thermal Units (MMBTU) under the Off the Grid (Captive Power Plants) Levy Ordinance, 2025, as per the notice issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), Government of Pakistan.

The notification states that under the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3, the Federal Government has determined the rate for sub-section (1) of section 3 accordingly.

The notification, signed by Secretary Momin Agha, has been forwarded to relevant stakeholders, including Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd., Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd., Secretary Finance Division, Secretary Power Division, Director General (Gas), and the Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

Additionally, a copy has been sent to the Manager, Printing Corporation of Pakistan, Islamabad, for record and dissemination.
