Govt prioritizes Karakoram highway upgrades to boost northern tourism

May 06, 2024 (MLN): The government is giving special attention to the improvement of the Karakoram Highway and the connected roads and motorways to promote tourism in northern areas of the country, Minister for Communications, Privatization and Investment Board Abdul Aleem Khan stated during his visit to Gilgit.

He said the promotion of tourism in the area would also have a positive impact on the economic condition of the local people.

During his visit, the Federal Minister also held a meeting with Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan and members of the Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet.

On the occasion, they discussed various projects, including the dilapidated condition of Karakoram Highway, Jaglot-Skardu Road and tunnels.
