Govt committed to reverse de-industrialization trend

March 15, 2019 (MLN): Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Textile Abdul Razak Dawood has said that the government is committed to reverse the trend of de-industrialization.      

During a meeting with a delegation of Asian Development Bank, the Adviser said that newly drafted National Tariff Policy will play central role in boosting industrialization and remove impediments in industrial growth.

The ADB delegation apprised the Advisor of the bank`s ongoing technical assistance programmes in the country and shared the agenda for assistance in trade and energy sectors.

The delegation also offered the ADB`s support to explore financing options for small and medium enterprise using local currency bonds for agriculture sector as well.

Meanwhile, the Advisor on Commerce shared the government`s economic priorities and strategies with the delegation and said that renewable energy projects are pivotal to economic growth of the country.

He also acknowledged ADB`s support in different areas including trade.

He said all anomalies will be corrected as the National Tariff policy will help reduce cost of imported raw materials.
