Gold prices continue upward trend, reaching historic high

April 16, 2025 (MLN): Gold hit a new all-time high in Pakistan on Wednesday, with the price of 24-karat gold soaring to Rs348,000 per tola, marking a sharp increase of Rs8,600.

Similarly, 24-karat gold per 10-gram was sold at Rs298,353 after a gain of Rs7,373, according to rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

The price of 22-karat gold was also quoted higher at Rs273,500 per 10-gram.

Similarly, silver prices rose in the domestic market, with 24-karat silver being sold at Rs3,460 per tola (+Rs63) and Rs2,966 per 10-gram (+Rs54).

Globally, spot gold traded near $3,298 an ounce, up $47.5 or 1.46% from the previous session.

Gold prices rose to a new all-time high on Wednesday, as investors sought safe-haven assets following an order by U.S. President Donald Trump to probe potential new trade actions.
