Fruits and vegetable worth $132 mln exported during the quarter

November 1, 2018: The fruits and vegetables exports from the country during first quarter of current financial year grew by 49 percent and 19 percent respectively, as compared the corresponding period of last year.

During the period from July-September, 2018-19, about 130.7 thousand metric tons of fruits worth nearly $102 million, was exported as compared to the exports of 83 thousand metric tons valuing $68.2 million, according the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Meanwhile, 132.5 thousand metric tons of vegetables worth $32.8 million was exported , against the exports of 81.4 thousand metric tons valuing at $27.5 million, during the same period , last year.

During the period under review , food group exports form the country grew by 16.9 percent as compared to the exports in the corresponding period of last year, as food commodities worth $865.7 million was exported, as against $740.4 million worth of exports made in the same period of last year.

In first quarter of current financial year country earned $46.7 million by exporting about 15 thousand metric tons of meat and meat products. The exports of these products stood at 12 thousand metric tons valuing at $44.7million during the same period of last year.
