October 5, 2021: Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo, President FPCCI, has demanded that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should convene the meeting of the liaison committee it formed two years back with the business community and have only had its meeting once in two years.

The committee was aimed at resolving grievances of the business community vis-à-vis NAB cases and enabling them to report any misuse of authority by any official.

Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo reassured the NAB that the business community will put forward only those complaints and recommendations which are valid, lawful, and well-meaning. Additionally, FPCCI will also support NAB’s efforts to create awareness among SMEs to understand the transparency and accountability laws of the land, he added.

President FPCCI added that the 6-member Business Consultative Committee was meant to meet regularly to keep it relevant and effective; and, reach resolutions without delays or losses to businesses. It is pertinent to note that NAB also formed a 3-member review committee comprising of high-ranking NAB officials to scrutinize the recommendations made by the Business Consultative Committee.

Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo recommended that all members of NAB’s Business Consultative Committee should be members of the committee by virtue of post; and, not by names. This way the committee will be institutionalized and representative of the entire business, industry, and trade community of Pakistan.

Mian Nasser Hyatt Maggo, as President FPCCI, has once again extended his full support and facilitation to NAB to use the apex and representative platform of FPCCI to liaison with the business community of Pakistan; and, help play their respective roles in the growth and prosperity of Pakistan.

FPCCI recommends that NAB should convene meetings of its Business Consultative Committee at least once every quarter to deal with the dynamic business and economic environment.
