FinMin praises IFC’s role in raising $2.5bn for Reko Diq project

April 22, 2025 (MLN): The role of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in raising $2.5 billion in debt financing for the Reko Diq Copper & Gold Mine Project in Balochistan was highly appreciated by the Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb.

He expressed this during a meeting with Ms. Hela Cheikhrouhou, Regional Vice President of the International Finance Corporation, and her team.

During the meeting, both sides explored cooperation in the areas of private sector reforms, energy transition, sound municipal finance, and full employment, as per the press release.

The progress on Diversified Payment Rights (DPR) was also reviewed, with an emphasis placed on ensuring that benefits from the project should accrue to the local community.
