FinMin leaves for U.S. to attend IMF, World Bank meetings

April 19, 2025 (MLN): To attend the 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has departed for the United States.

The Spring Meetings will begin on Monday, April 21, and will continue until Saturday, April 26.

During his visit, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will hold meetings with senior officials from the World Bank and the IMF.

He is also scheduled to meet with the Finance Ministers and counterpart leaders from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye.

Meetings with senior officials from the U.S. State and Treasury Departments are also part of the visit, as per the press release.

The Finance Minister will engage with representatives from global credit rating agencies, commercial banks, and investment banks.

He will highlight Pakistan’s economic outlook during addresses at investment forums and seminars.

He will participate in the 13th Ministerial Meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.

At a roundtable hosted by Jefferies International, the Finance Minister will speak on "Pakistan’s Economic Outlook, Recent Fiscal and Monetary Developments, Progress on Reforms, and Engagement with the IMF."

He will also address a session organized by the Center for Global Development (CGD) on ongoing reforms in Pakistan and the challenges ahead.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will meet Ms. Gargi Ghosh, President of Global Policy and Advocacy at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

He will also meet with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development and Honorary Patron of the G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion.

During the visit, the Finance Minister will tour prominent U.S. think tanks.

He will address the Atlantic Council on "Challenges and Opportunities for Pakistan’s Economy in 2025 and Beyond."

The Finance Minister will also hold meetings with selected representatives of international and U.S. media outlets.
