FDI falls 57.8% YoY In June to $114m

July 18, 2023 (MLN): Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan stood at $114.13 million in June 2023, registering a decrease of 57.8% YoY and 23.6% MoM compared to $271.1m in June 2022 and $149.6m in May 2023, the latest data issued by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed.

Within the direct investments in the review month, there was an inflow of $141.4m, down by 20.56% MoM and 51.81% YoY, while the outflow stood at $27.1m, down by over 4.62% MoM and 21.27% YoY.

The foreign private investment into the country reduced by 17.99% MoM to clock in at $111.1 m in June 2023.

Meanwhile, the foreign public investment clocked in at $39,786 during the review month, compared to a negative $1m in May 2023.

Accordingly, the total foreign investment in the review month inched down by 17.33% MoM to clock in at $111.2m, compared to $134.5m in May 2023.

Within FY23, FDI decreased by 24.8% YoY to $1.456bn as compared to FDI of $1.936bn reported in the corresponding period last year.
