FBR blocks over 11,000 non-filers SIMs

May 23, 2024 (MLN): The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has blocked around 11,250 SIM cards of non-filers under Income Tax General Order (ITGO) to curb tax evasion, a spokesperson for the FBR stated on Thursday.

The spokesperson added that FBR is committed to promoting tax compliance and tax culture.

Earlier, to enforce tax regulations and encourage greater participation in the tax system, FBR had decided to disable mobile phone SIMs associated with 506,671 individuals who did not appear on the active taxpayer list but were obligated to file Income Tax Returns for the Tax Year 2023.

These measures are aimed at encouraging individuals to fulfil their tax obligations and contribute to the country's economic development.
