April 18, 2024 (MLN): The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), a subsidiary of the Power Division, has demanded Rs2.94 per unit additional fuel cost for March 2024 to be recovered from consumers.

The request for this hike has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) for the third consecutive month.

A public hearing to consider the proposed adjustment has been scheduled by Nepra on April 26, 2024.

If approved, this adjustment will be billed from consumers through May bills.

“An increase of Rs2.9402/kWh over the reference fuel charges as per the notified Annex-IV of the decision of the Authority for XWDISCOs i.e. Rs6.4417/kWh, has been requested by CPPA-G for the month of March 2024,” reads the notice by Nepra.
