easypaisa partners with Google Developer Groups

August 5, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan’s first digital bank, easypaisa, joined forces with Google Developer Groups  to bring Google I/O Extended Islamabad 2025 to the federal capital.

The event showed the latest in AI innovation and development, including the introduction of cutting-edge tools by Saad Hamid, Regional Lead for Google’s Developer Ecosystem.

 The two-day event gathered over 300 technology professionals, developers, and students from across the region to explore the future of AI and its impact on Pakistan’s digital economy.

Held under the theme “Unlocking Potential with AI,” the event featured a blend of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, aimed at inspiring innovation while emphasizing the responsible use of AI.

The opening day included talks from GDG Islamabad co-managers Ali Naqi Rizvi, Sarwat Rizvi, and Ahmed Khan, who emphasized the urgency of ethical AI development.

On the second day, the focus shifted to practical implementation, with hands-on sessions helping participants turn their AI concepts into real-world applications.

By highlighting AI’s role in transforming Pakistan’s financial landscape, Farhan Hassan, Chief Digital Officer at easypaisa, delivered a keynote titled AI in Action: Powering the Future of Fintech in Pakistan.

He emphasized how easypaisa is deploying AI in risk management, customer experience, and other operational areas to deliver personalized and secure digital banking to millions of Pakistanis.

“We’re proud to bring this platform to life alongside GDG Islamabad,” said Hassan. “As a pioneer in digital banking, easypaisa is committed to leveraging AI to enhance financial inclusion and support Pakistan’s evolving tech ecosystem.”

Gemini 2.5 Flash, the Agent Development Kit, and Firebase Studio tools designed to help developers create production-ready AI agents more efficiently were brought to spotlight by Saad Hamid.

Beyond showcasing technology, the event served as a hub for networking and collaboration, reinforced easypaisa’s commitment to advancing grassroots innovation in Pakistan.

With a customer base representing 20% of Pakistan’s adult population, including 31% female users, and over Rs9.5 trillion in transactions processed in 2024, easypaisa continues to be a driving force in shaping the country’s digital and financial future.
