Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Sartaj Aziz, addresses SDPI Seminar

While addressing the seminar, he said that “the need to bridge the regional relationships is imminent”. Calling for regional connectivity and interdependence of countries in the global world he mentioned that air transport must be increased to increase trade.

Furthermore, citing the negative attitude of world towards Pakistan he mentioned that without peace the trade will not possible as no investor will be willing to take a bet on Pakistan. Citing Pakistan’s relationship with her neighbors, he said Pakistan continues to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan and is looking forward to regional stability and trade with Afghanistan.

Quashing any fears related to CPEC, he mentioned that the project is not only in the favor of Pakistan, it has a potential to be a game changer for the entire subcontinent. CPEC under OBOR will increase employment opportunities for the member nations. Better regional and international relationships strengthen the trade relationships and agreements.

He said that in order to progress, developing nations must learn from the experiences of developed nations. Strong infrastructure ensures timely and sustainable growth.
