Closing Bell: What goes up…

December 3, 2019 (MLN): On Tuesday, the equity index closed poorly and broke a four-day winning streak as profit booking by investors led to a market correction.

The KSE-100 Index lost 335 points and closed the day 0.84% lower than yesterday, at 39,788 points.

The Index traded in a range of 718.52 points or 1.79 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,444.05 and a low of 39,725.53.

Of the 94 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 61 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 286.77 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 88 points, Cement with 79 points, Fertilizer with 65 points, Chemical with 21 points and Automobile Assembler with 17 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 57 points followed by UBL with 34 points, LUCK with 34 points, BAHL with 24 points and SNGP with 21 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Insurance with 12 points, Paper & Board with 9 points, Refinery with 4 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 4 points and Real Estate Investment Trust with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by MCB which contributed 20 points followed by NESTLE with 16 points, SEARL with 13 points, EFERT with 10 points and PKGS with 9 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 108.52 Million to 448.88 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.45.85 Billion.

Total companies traded were 392 compared to 409 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 154 closed up, 229 closed down while 9 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 1,637 to 133,044.

Value Traded decreased by 2.05 Billion to Rs.14.43 Billion
