Closing Bell: Rest period

September 15, 2020 (MNL): The KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Tuesday with a 184.89 point or 0.43 percent decline to close at 42,346.42.

The market opened on a good note with Cement sector mostly in the lead owing to an increase in cement prices in the North region. However, profit-booking and excessive selling in the later hours of the session led the index into the red region.

The Index traded in a range of 567.71 points or 1.33 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,830.93 and a low of 42,263.22.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 33 closed up 61 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 411.06 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Commercial Banks with 64 points, Fertilizer with 51 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 25 points, Technology & Communication with 25 points and Insurance with 16 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 39 points followed by DAWH with 22 points, UBL with 21 points, HBL with 20 points and TRG with 18 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Food & Personal Care Products with 14 points, Engineering with 12 points, Pharmaceuticals with 9 points, Chemical with 7 points and Automobile Parts & Accessories with 6 points.

The most points added to the index was by MTL which contributed 13 points followed by NESTLE with 11 points, MLCF with 10 points, THALL with 7 points and EPCL with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 153.28 Million to 662.80 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.19.29 Billion.

Total companies traded were 438 compared to 428 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 140 closed up, 281 closed down while 17 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 27,525 to 170,433.

Value Traded increased by 4.07 Billion to Rs.18.61 Billion
