Closing Bell: Pre-Eid profit booking

May 21, 2020 (MLN): Another lackluster day witnessed at Pakistan Stock Exchange as the benchmark KSE-100 index after dithering between the green and red zone, ultimately closed the session below 34,000 mark i.e. at 33,836 points level after shedding further 96 points or down by 0.28% from yesterday’s close.

The index opened on a positive note; however, it lost the momentum as profit-booking was witnessed due to last trading day before long Eid holidays.

The Index traded in a range of 288.91 points or 0.85 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 34,046.28 and a low of 33,757.37.

Of the 94 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 60 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 96.34 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 32 points, Cement with 31 points, Commercial Banks with 27 points, Automobile Assembler with 13 points and Textile Composite with 11 points.

The most points taken off the index was by SNGP which stripped the index of 15 points followed by LUCK with 13 points, DGKC with 11 points, EFERT with 11 points and HUBC with 9 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 32 points, Insurance with 11 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 10 points, Textile Spinning with 2 points and Glass & Ceramics with 1 points.

The most points added to the index was by OGDC which contributed 18 points followed by NESTLE with 8 points, POL with 8 points, AICL with 6 points and EFUG with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 17.89 Million to 147.21 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.2.81 Billion.

Total companies traded were 340 compared to 344 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 135 closed up, 187 closed down while 18 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 9,401 to 68,937.

Value Traded decreased by 1.02 Billion to Rs.5.85 Billion
