Closing Bell: KSE-100 index back in black!

December 16, 2019 (MNL): The KSE-100 index gave a smashing performance in today’s session, as it gained around 728.29 points and closed at 41,644.88 level.

The optimism in the market evolved after the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Reza Baqir asserted that the government was making strong efforts to fulfill all the conditions set forth by the FATF. Moreover, he stated that the steps to curb financial terrorism were very well received by FATF and IMF

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 41,701.04

Of the 96 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 78 closed up 16 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 222.33 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 221 points, Commercial Banks with 162 points, Cement with 57 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 43 points and Fertilizer with 39 points.

The most points added to the index was by PPL which contributed 97 points followed by HBL with 79 points, OGDC with 66 points, POL with 41 points and UBL with 25 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Modarabas with 1 points.

The most points taken off the index was by MCB which stripped the index of 12 points followed by BAFL with 5 points, EFERT with 5 points, NATF with 4 points and INDU with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 87.08 Million to 357.79 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.148.71 Billion.

Total companies traded were 391 compared to 363 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 276 closed up, 96 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 8,960 to 103,327.

Value Traded increased by 2.32 Billion to Rs.13.99 Billion
