China tops Pakistan’s import list in FY23

July 18, 2023 (MLN): Among Pakistan’s top trading partners, China remained the top source of imports for Pakistan during June 2023, followed by U. A. E. Dubai, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
According to the data released by the State Bank of Pakistan., the total imports from China during the month of June decreased by 61.19% YoY and 10.23% MoM to $623.84 million, as compared to $1.607 billion recorded in the corresponding period of last year.
This was followed by U. A. E. Dubai, as Pakistan imported goods worth $337.7m from the Emirates as compared to the imports of $767.3m recorded during June FY22, depicting a decline of 56% YoY and 18.46% MoM.
Qatar was the third on the list as Pakistan imported products worth $266.74m from the country. This figure was down by 46.13% from the imports of $495.15m in the same period last year and by 10.71% MoM.
Saudi Arabia was the fourth in line as imports came from the region during the aforementioned period were $216.64m, depicting a significant decrease of 52.39% YoY.
Among other countries, Pakistan’s imports from the USA stood at $175.67m, marking a drop of 48.02% YoY, while imports from Singapore decreased by 54.53% YoY to $157.87m.
Meanwhile, the imports from Indonesia stood at $145.47m, up by 15% YoY.
Meanwhile, cumulatively, in the twelve months of FY23, China remained the top source of imports, recording $9.66bn with a significant decrease of 44.2%, compared to $17.3bn in FY22.
Whereas, total imports from D.A.E Dubai in 12MFY23 stood at 45.4bn, registering a decline of 18.49%.
