April 24, 2025 (MLN): China’s Commerce Ministry on Thursday firmly dismissed speculation of resumed trade negotiations with the United States, calling such reports “groundless and without factual basis.”

“There have not been economic and trade negotiations between China and the U.S.,” a ministry spokesperson stated, urging Washington to demonstrate sincerity if it truly seeks dialogue.

Any future engagement, Beijing stressed, must be based on “mutual respect and equality.”

China also reiterated its long-standing demand that the U.S. lift all unilateral tariff measures as a precondition for meaningful talks.
