Caretaker IT minister pledges to launch 5G to boost telecom industry

November 29, 2023 (MLN): To revolutionize the telecom industry in Pakistan and create a more favorable environment for capitalism, the caretaker Minister of IT announced a commitment to launch 5G during a meeting with the Group Co-Chief Executive Officer of VEON Group Kan Terzuoglu today.

During the meeting, he appreciated VEON Group's efforts to ensure technology and smartphone availability in Pakistan.

Dr Umar Saif reiterated that providing quality telecom services to the people is the top priority, and the government is actively working to enhance connectivity.

He further highlighted that soon a spectrum auction will be held to provide better telecom services to the people.

Amir Ibrahim, the Chief Executive Officer of Jazz was also present on this occasion.

Dr. Umar Saif urged the CEO, stating that Jazz should invest in e-agriculture, e-education, and e-health in Pakistan.
