Car sales rise 68.7% YoY in July 2024

August 12, 2024 (MLN): Auto sales in Pakistan increased by 68.7% YoY to 8,589 units in July 2024, compared to 5,092 units recorded in the same month of last year, the latest data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) showed today.

Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the sales of cars, including LCVs, vans, and jeeps, have decreased by 35.3% compared to the 13,284 cars sold in June 2024.

Breaking up the data, during the review month, passenger car sales increased by 58.2% YoY to 5,857 units compared to 3,702 units recorded in the same month of last year

The total production of passenger cars was recorded at 6,632 units in August, up 89.6% YoY compared to 3,498 units made in the same month of last year.

The data released by PAMA further showed that the maximum number of passenger car sales was made within the ‘Below 1000cc’ category at 3,157 units in July 2024.

Within this category, Suzuki Alto recorded the highest sales at 2,869 units, followed by Suzuki Bolan with sales of 288 units.

The second highest number of sales was made within the ‘1300cc and Above’ category at 2,465 units during the review month.

Toyota (Corolla & Yaris) led sales with 1,106 units in this category, followed by Honda Cars (Civic & City) with sales of 790 units, Suzuki Swift with 502 units, and Hyundai Sonata with 34 units.

Moreover, the '1000 cc' segment witnessed a sale of 235 units in July 2024.

In this category, Suzuki WagonR recorded the highest sales at 139 units, followed by Suzuki Cultus with sales of 96 units.
