January 30, 2025 (MLN): To review recommendations for restructuring the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the National Heritage & Culture Division, the Cabinet Committee on the Rationalization of the Federal Government, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened a meeting.

A sub-committee, led by Ambassador-at-Large Salman Ahmed, presented its recommendations after comprehensive consultations, evaluating the scope of subordinate departments and the impact on public policy.

The recommendations focused on departmental efficiency, effective operations, and improved public services, according to the press release.

The sub-committee’s report proposed clear timelines and targets for integration, function transfers, third-party audits, and sustainability.

The proposed measures aim to establish an effective organizational structure and reduce the size of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the National Heritage & Culture Division.

The Cabinet Committee heard feedback from senior officials of the concerned ministries on the proposed recommendations.

A detailed discussion was held on the recommendations by senior officers of the respective divisions.

The final recommendations of the Cabinet Committee concerning both divisions will soon be presented to the Federal Cabinet for approval.
