Business confidence in Pakistan rises sharply by 16%

May 25, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan’s business confidence has improved significantly, with overall confidence rising by 16%, from -5% to +11%, according to the Foreign Investors' Business Confidence Survey released by the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI).

Key driving forces for the improvement in business confidence are the company’s, industry’s, city’s and country’s business conditions along with expected sales volumes, expansions and profits which are expected to be increased, said Khurram Schehzad, Advisor to Finance Minister.

Over the past two years, confidence has seen a sharp recovery, climbing from -25% in May 2023 to +11% in May 2025, reflecting a notable improvement in sentiment across the business community.

OICCI members, representing existing foreign investors in Pakistan, also showed an 11% increase in confidence, reaching 17% compared to 6% previously, as per the press release issued.

All three key sectors of the economy – manufacturing, retail, and services – have remained in positive territory since 2022.

Metro cities experienced a 17% rise in business confidence, now at +14% compared to -3% earlier, while non-metro cities improved by 8%.
