Banks’ deposits increase by 17.87% YoY to Rs26.11tr in August: SBP

Banks’ deposits increase 20.1% YoY to Rs28.32tr in March

September 12, 2023 (MLN): The total deposits held by scheduled banks have moved up by 17.87% YoY to Rs26.11 trillion in August 2023 compared to Rs22.15 tr in August 2022.

Accoring to data released by the SBP, Banks deposits have edged higher by 1.59% MoM, compared to Rs25.7 tr in July 2023.

Total advances increased by 7.82 % to Rs11.77 tr compared Rs10.92 from a year ago. On a monthly basis, advances decreased by 1.03 % from its values of Rs11.89 tr in July 2023.

Advances to Deposit Ratio (ADR) stood at 45.1% showing a decrease of 119 bps on a monthly basis and a decrease of 420 bps on a yearly basis.

Total Investments of Scheduled Banks stood at Rs22.01 tr compared to Rs21.46 tr from a month ago and Rs18.18 tr from a year ago, showing a M.o.M increase of 2.56% and a Y.o.Y increase of 21.08%.

Investment to Deposit Ratio (IDR) moved up by 80 bps to 84.32% compared to July 2023 and increased by 224 bps when compared to a year ago.
