Bank Alfalah denies media reports of halting donations for Palestine

November 09, 2023 (MLN): Bank Alfalah Limited (PSX: BAFL) has refuted media claims suggesting that the Pakistani government instructed banks to stop accepting donations for Palestine.

Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) circulating this claim, BAFL's official account clarified that no such instructions have been issued.

The bank stated that the impression created by the message is misleading and that there are no instructions for banks to stop accepting donations.

BAFL went on to affirm its commitment to facilitating donations into accounts within the legal framework.

Furthermore, the bank issued an official statement on X, stating;

"Bank Alfalah would like to address the misunderstanding created by the internal memo that has been circulating on social media."

It added that the misleading impression created that banks have been instructed to stop accepting donations is absolutely incorrect. 

In Pakistan, operational accounts of embassies are restricted from receiving donations; instead, contributions should be directed to legally permissible donation accounts.

BAFL remains committed to enabling donations from people in Pakistan in accordance with the law to appropriate and authorised accounts that are designated for the purpose of donations, it added.
