Aliya Hashmi removed from Bank of Khyber's board

July 07, 2024 (MLN): The Bank of Khyber (PSX: BOK) on Friday informed that Dr. Aliya Hashmi Khan has been removed from the Board of the bank and hence ceased to be Director with immediate effect.

Professor Dr. Aliya Hashmi Khan served as an independent director on the board.

In its notice to PSX, BOK stated that this action was authorized by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa via a notification dated July 5, 2024.

About Dr. Aliya Hashmi Khan

Professor Dr. Aliya has 35 years of rich experience in imparting education and is contributing to research and policy development in the areas of Labour Economics, Human Resource Development and Macroeconomic Policy.

She has been a member of various government and non-government organizations and currently serves as Chair of the National Poverty Estimation Committee, Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan.

In 2010, she was awarded the President’s Medal – Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah in the category of Higher Education.

Professor Dr. Aliya Hashmi Khan holds a master's in Economics and Social Sciences from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad and University of Chicago, USA respectively.

Moreover, she received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA.
