World Bank reaffirms support for Pakistan’s digital economy

October 21, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan and the World Bank have discussed cooperation in digital transformation, e-governance and IT infrastructure during a meeting between Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and World Bank Vice President Ousmane Dione in South Korea.

The discussions covered Pakistan's digital economy and ways to strengthen the country's information technology infrastructure, according to Radio Pakistan.

The World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to providing continued technical and financial assistance to Pakistan, with a focus on expanding digital skills among young people and supporting the growth of the freelancing sector.

Separately, during her visit to Seoul, Shaza Fatima Khawaja visited leading technology organisation DeltaX, where she held detailed discussions on advancing artificial intelligence and digital marketing in Pakistan.
