March 24, 2026 (MLN): US President Donald Trump on March 24 reshared a post from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting Islamabad’s readiness to host negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Sharif’s original post emphasized Pakistan’s “honor and readiness” to facilitate meaningful talks for a comprehensive settlement, provided both Iran and the United States consent.

The message tagged Trump, US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The move casts Pakistan into the spotlight as a potential mediator in the conflict triggered by US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.

Islamabad has quietly joined efforts with Turkey and Egypt to explore diplomatic solutions, while domestic energy and economic pressures add urgency to its mediation bid.
