Türkiye offers 20-year tax break to foreign investors

April 29, 2026 (MLN): Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has declared a sweeping fiscal incentive package that includes a headline measure granting incoming foreign residents a 20-year exemption from Turkish taxes on foreign-source income and capital gains, in a bid to attract global capital and high-skilled talent.

The declaration was made during the “Türkiye Century Strong Center for Investment Program” at the Dolmabahçe Working Office, where Erdoğan outlined broader reforms aimed at transforming the country into a major international investment hub, according to local news channel of Türkiye.

Beyond the tax holiday for foreign residents, the package includes sharp reductions in corporate tax rates for exporters and manufacturers, as well as near-total exemptions on transit trade income particularly for firms operating within the Istanbul Finance Centre.

Framing the initiative within a rapidly shifting global landscape, Erdoğan highlighted how geopolitical tensions and changing trade routes are reshaping economic priorities worldwide, positioning Türkiye to emerge as a central player in regional and global commerce.

The proposed measures will be submitted to parliament for approval and, if enacted, are expected to significantly enhance Türkiye’s appeal as a destination for investment, business operations, and wealth relocation.
