The National Interest hails Asim Munir’s diplomacy

August 27, 2025 (MLN): New York: U.S. magazine The National Interest acknowledged Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s role in driving Pakistan’s foreign policy to major achievements.
It noted that the U.S. President strengthened his relations with the
military chief through the declaration of key economic agreements.
The magazine emphasized that Pakistan’s diplomatic approach under Asim Munir
has shifted regional dynamics, leaving India facing setbacks.
It noted that Islamabad managed to secure support from President Donald
Trump, who recognized Pakistan’s mediatory role in recent disputes with India.
The report recalled that Indian hostilities
backfired when the Pakistan Air Force downed Indian fighter aircraft. Following
this, Washington brokered a ceasefire between the two neighbors, which Pakistan
welcomed and even went as far as nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
In contrast, New Delhi rejected U.S. mediation, with Prime Minister Narendra
Modi refusing Trump’s invitation to Washington a move that reportedly angered
the U.S. President.
Despite India’s stance, Trump extended a warm
reception to Asim Munir at the White House. Within weeks of this meeting, the
U.S. President informed fresh economic agreements with Pakistan while
simultaneously tightening pressure on India by raising tariffs linked to its
Russian oil imports.
The article further highlighted Washington’s
decision to designate the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a terrorist
outfit, interpreting it as a sign of America distancing itself from New Delhi.
Analysts
in Pakistan view these developments as a testament to Asim Munir’s decisive leadership
and diplomatic strategy, which they argue has not only enhanced the country’s
international image but also intensified global pressure on India.
