Soneri Bank opens first WWF certified Green Branch

March 09, 2026 (MLN): Soneri Bank Limited declared that its Baber Market Branch located in Landhi, Karachi has received certification under the WWF-Pakistan Green Office Program, making it the bank’s first certified Green Branch.

The certification shows the bank’s commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainable operations, and alignment with the Green Banking Guidelines issued by the State Bank of Pakistan.

This recognition marks a milestone in Soneri Bank’s sustainability journey and highlights its efforts to reduce environmental impact while creating long-term social value, according to the press release. 

The Baber Market Branch was strategically selected to promote environmental and social impact in Landhi, with initiatives focused on waste management, water conservation, and energy efficiency.

Commenting on the development, Mubarak Ali, Chief Risk Officer at Soneri Bank Limited, said the WWF-Pakistan Green Office certification of the Baber Market Branch represents an important step in the bank’s sustainability journey.

He noted that the milestone reflects the bank’s commitment to integrating environmentally responsible practices into its operations while contributing positively to the communities it serves.

He added that the bank remains committed to supporting the State Bank of Pakistan’s Green Banking Guidelines and advancing initiatives that promote environmental stewardship, resource efficiency, and sustainable economic growth.

By adopting responsible operational practices and engaging employees and customers in sustainability initiatives, Soneri Bank aims to contribute to environmental conservation and sustainable growth.

The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
