June 14, 2025 (MLN): The Sindh government on Friday proposed a 12% ad hoc relief in salaries for government employees from grade 1 to 16 and a 10% raise for those in grades 17 to 22, as part of the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26.

Presenting the budget in the Sindh Assembly, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, who also holds the finance portfolio, also introduced an 8% increase in pensions for retired provincial employees.

This comes in comparison to the federal government’s FY26 decision to increase salaries by 10% across grades 1 to 22 and propose a 7% pension hike.

Addressing the assembly, CM Shah further stated that the conveyance allowance for differently abled employees had been raised in the new budget.

Terming the FY26 budget a “comprehensive budget,” he noted that special grants would be allocated for various welfare and development programmes.

While presenting the Annual Development Program (ADP), the chief minister said the total outlay stands at Rs1.018tr.

The Provincial ADP has been set at Rs520bn, supported by District ADP, Foreign Project Assistance (FPA), and Federal PSDP grants.

He added that the plan focuses on rehabilitation, infrastructure development, social services, and sustainable growth across Sindh.

The CM said that Rs102.8bn have been allocated for education, Rs45.4bn for health, Rs84bn for irrigation, and Rs132bn for local government.
