October 15, 2026 (MLN): Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has highlighted progress in macroeconomic stabilisation, fiscal consolidation, revenue mobilisation and sustained primary surpluses, while outlining efforts to diversify international financing and replace costly borrowing without adding to the external debt stock.

He was speaking at a JP Morgan investment seminar titled “Pakistan: The Road to Resilience in a Turbulent Global Economy Landscape”, held on the sidelines of the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand, said a press release issued.

Discussions at the seminar covered strong remittances, improved foreign exchange reserves, a contained current account deficit and external debt repayments.

Senator Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the IMF programme and continued structural reforms, alongside a prudent monetary policy to contain inflation.

He also stressed targeted support for vulnerable households, careful energy procurement and sustainable, export-led growth.

The discussions further touched on federal-provincial fiscal coordination and stronger trade and investment partnerships.
