Saudi Arabia boosts local helicopter production drive

July 08, 2026 (MLN): Saudi Arabia has taken another step toward developing a domestic helicopter manufacturing industry by convening a strategic workshop led by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in partnership with the National Center for Industrial Development and global aerospace company Airbus.

The event, attended by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, brought together around 20 local and international suppliers to explore collaboration opportunities, strengthen global partnerships, and support the transfer of advanced helicopter manufacturing technologies to the Kingdom, according to APP.

Discussions focused on the Kingdom's vision to establish a competitive aviation manufacturing sector, with particular emphasis on expanding industrial capabilities for helicopter production. Participants also reviewed the incentives, industrial enablers, and investment opportunities designed to attract high-value projects to Saudi Arabia.

The workshop provided a platform for direct engagement between domestic and international suppliers across the aviation value chain, aiming to accelerate technology localization, enhance knowledge sharing, and strengthen local manufacturing capabilities.

Representatives from relevant government entities also participated in the event, underscoring Saudi Arabia's continued efforts to localize strategic industries and position the Kingdom as a global hub for advanced aviation manufacturing.
